Covering the West Texas Border
by Christine Wenk-Harrison

Hombres in sombreros,
seasonal hats—felt or straw
perhaps, “Hecho en Mexico”

the Chihuahuan desert, light is potent;
a hat’s a shady refuge

Broad-rimmed cowboy hats,
or pull up to the bar in a VW bus.
